		<description>Hello Thomas,

This is a very impressive list, however I would
submit you have fallen into the universal trap
of failing to acknowledge the presence of
People in the Process.

All of this technical knowledge is very valuable,
however you will still fail if you are unable
to quickly establish a relationship of Trust
and Respect with the Teams on the front line
doing the work.

We have found nearly all BB training programs
fail to provide the Leadership and Faciliation
training that is absolutely crucial to the
implementation of any Process Improvement
Project.

Unfortunately there is usually an inverse
relationship between a BB’s technical skills
and their ability to deal with the “People
Issues” on their teams.

Having trained over 2000 Lean Black Belts in Leadership
and Facilitation skills, here are some skills I would add to your list:

- Lead consistently effective meetings
- Deal effectively with resistance, skepticism
- Obtain and maintain Leadership support and enthusiasm
- Deal effectively with dysfunctional behavior on the
part of team members
- Keep the team on track and moving forward

After all, Lean is about creating meaningful
change in the work habits of teams of people …
and perhaps taking them places they might not see
for themselves … or even want to go.

People skills roundly deserve a place in the 100
things a Black Belt absolutely must be able to
do.

My two cents,

Dike
